CAPTR
Coalition After Property Tax Reform
Our Strategy
CAPTR has met with countless stakeholders over the past five years — elected officials, ministry bureaucrats, ratepayers groups, and hundreds of homeowners. We have urged property owners to write to their MPPs, but we recognize that doing so requires a fair amount of effort; and that rank-and-file MPPs are very limited in their power and ability to influence Government policy and action.
We have taken you message and your support directly to the Government of Ontario.
We held a News Conference at Queen's Park in April 2008 where we presented an independent study that clearly demonstrates that the 2008 assessment will again be the cause of major shifts of property tax onto urban centres and waterfront areas across Ontario.
We have collected thousands of email signatures to help us share the breadth of the concern.
We will continue to work through the political opportunities at Queen's Park as they arise.
We are a volunteer association, on a very limited budget. So undertaking a massive advertising and awareness campaign is, unfortunately, not possible.
